Congratulations to the 2018-19 Laker Leaders! This group is made up of about 50 junior high students, each one hand picked by junior high teachers. They were picked because of leadership skills they already possess, but these students will learn much more about what it takes to be a positive leader through the work they’ll be doing as a Laker Leader. The leaders, who enjoyed a special lunch at the Youth for Christ building in Pigeon recently, will be responsible for two main tasks. One – to lead small group discussions during one of the Five Star Life character education sessions each week. All junior high students watch a Five Star video, featuring Laker grad Seth Maust, and then students are divided into the smaller groups to discuss the video’s messages. The second task for the Laker Leaders is to help fellow students who are struggling academically. Each Laker Leader will do this at least once a week during seminar time. The Laker Leaders will get together every so often throughout the year for group activities. We wish all of these students the best as they sharpen their leadership skills this school year!
