At the Fine Arts Night May 16, Band Director Samantha Corrion announced that senior Channah Lotter had received the SVSU Rhea Miller full ride music scholarship! She auditioned with her oboe, which she had just starting playing in the fall of 2018. Very impressive! Channah performed a solo with her oboe during the auditorium portion of Fine Arts Night. Congratulations to Channah!
“Channah came to Lakers in 7th grade and she did not have a flute to play. I found one for her and she became first chair in no time,” Ms. Corrion said. “Last year, she wanted to challenge herself, so she taught herself alto saxophone. She earned I ratings as Solo and Ensemble as well as the flute. She was selected Drum Major her senior year and wanted to challenge herself. I gave her an oboe in August and she practiced to get where she is at. She is a stellar student musician and dedicated player.”
