Laker Elementary has some great news! With the goal of reducing class sizes, all grade levels K-5th will have three sections once again. Originally for the 2021-22 school year, the elementary planned to have just two sections of third grade instead of three, and move second grade back to three sections. However, due to the addition of students, administration decided to have three sections of third grade. Elementary Principal Jill VerBurg is excited about this development.
“This means that students will be receiving more individual attention, which is especially important after last year,” she said. “Class sizes are hovering around 18-22 at this point in most grades. These numbers do fluctuate as we near the start of school, with new students and school of choice students registering weekly.”
With the addition of a third-grade section comes some shuffling of staff members! Jodi Golochowicz will be a third grade teacher and Michelle Reibling is moving from first to second grade. Laker Elementary is now searching for a first-grade teacher.
As always, Laker Elementary is poised to bring the best educational experience for its students!
