What a way to reinvigorate a Robotics program! Lakers has brought back its FIRST Robotics extracurricular program after a brief hiatus, and the team had its first competition in mid-March in Standish. Right out of the gate, the Laker team won the Rookie Inspiration Award and was a runner-up in the championship round! How impressive is THAT?!?! Congratulations!
“This weekend was a huge win for our team,” said Jeff Diebel, Laker FIRST Robotics coach and the Laker Innovation Center director. “None of us would have ever imagined having the opportunity to be in the final tournament let alone play in the final match.”
Jim Bowen also is a coach for the team.
The robot was built by students in Mechatronics class, and several of them went to the competition to operate the robot. The robot had to accomplish a series of timed activities.
Great job to all!
