Laker High School is pleased to announce the Class of 2023 co-valedictorians, salutatorian, and top honor students. Reagan L. Boyce, Mikel L. Good and Brianna J. Yoder have earned Valedictorian honors with a GPA of 4.323. Kendal L. Boyce has earned Salutatorian honors with a GPA of 4.313.
Co-Valedictorian Reagan L. Boyce is the daughter of Brent and Bradi Boyce of Caseville. Reagan has been a member of the National Honors Society for three years. She has also served as the Class Student Council Representative for two years. Reagan has also maintained Honor Roll status all four years of high school. She is a dual-enrolled student at Mid-Michigan Community College through the Huron Area Technological Center. Throughout the program, Reagan has maintained a spot on the scholars list. Reagan has been an active member of the FFA, having served as a chapter officer for two years and competing in a wide variety of events. As a competitor, Reagan placed at the state level for Parliamentary Procedure multiple times and received a gold placement at the national level in the food science competition. Through the FFA she has also competed in the Vet Science Competition where her team placed 7th in the state in 2021. She has received her Discovery, Star Greenhand, and Outstanding Junior degrees. Reagan has also been involved in the Science Olympiad team, and her team placed 1st at the regional contest in 2021 and 2022. Individually, she placed 1st in the Environmental Chemistry competition at the regional level. Reagan plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall to study Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology.
Co-Valedictorian Mikel Good is the son of Jonathan and Kimberly Good of Caseville. Mikel has been actively involved in sports, school organizations, and community and church programs. Additionally, he has been a dual-enrolled student at Mid-Michigan Community College, maintaining a 4.0 GPA during both years of the program. At the time of Mikel’s graduation, he will have earned 45 college credits. His sports involvement includes football, basketball, and baseball, receiving awards including all-conference, dream team, and all-state honors. One of his off-the-field highlights is reading to elementary school students as part of the football program. Mikel has been active in several school organizations including FFA, Student Council, Rotary Interact, Youth Advisory Committee, and National Honor Society, and through these organizations, he regularly participates in community service. Mikel is also actively involved with his church and Youth for Christ. He has served on local and regional mission trips. Some of his favorite activities include Science Olympiad, First Robotics, and Mechatronics class. He spends most of his spare time in the Innovation Center working on projects for these programs, including model bridges, a chess set, and assisting with building the FIRST Robotics robot. In the fall, Mikel plans to attend Michigan State University to study Mechanical Engineering.
Co-Valedictorian Brianna J. Yoder is the daughter of Shane and Kimberly Yoder of Pigeon. While in high school, Brianna participated in Mid Michigan’s Dual Enrollment program receiving Scholar’s List honors. Brianna has been a National Honor Society member for three years and a member of Rotary Interact for 2 years. Brianna is also the senior yearbook editor, the Senior Class President and the Laker FFA Chapter President. In FFA, Brianna has competed at the State level competition as the president of her parliamentary procedure team for 4 years, earning gold each year. She has also earned silver at the National FFA Convention in the Food Science event. Brianna was honored to receive a scholarship to attend the FFA Washington Leadership Conference last summer. Brianna has been a member of the Laker Science Olympiad Team for four years. She has been very successful in qualifying for States each year. After graduating high school, Brianna plans to attend Michigan State University’s Lyman Briggs College and will major in Biology.
Salutatorian Kendal Boyce is the daughter of Brent and Bradi Boyce of Caseville. She has been awarded the all-A honor roll all four years throughout high school. Kendal has been a member of the National Honors Society for three years. She also served as the secretary on the 2022-2023 Senior class council. Kendal is enrolled in the Mid-Michigan College Dual Enrollment program at the Huron Area Technical Center, where she has earned a spot on the scholars list in both 2022 and 2023. Kendal has been a member of the FFA for the past five years, where she was a state finalist in parliamentary procedure in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. She also competed in the Food Science and Technology CDE competition at the National level earning a silver award. Kendal acted as Laker FFA’s 2022-2023 Chapter reporter and received her Discovery, Star Greenhand, and Outstanding Junior degrees and will be receiving her State FFA degree. Kendal has been a member of the Girl’s Varsity Soccer team since freshman year, earning her Varsity letter in 2021. She also made the All-Conference Scholar athlete award in both 2021 and 2022, and her team was recognized in 2021 and 2022 by the United Soccer Coaches Association with the Team Academic Award. Kendal was also a member of the Laker Science Olympiad Team, where her team advanced to the State level in both 2021 and 2022. In 2022 she received first-place awards in Environmental Chemistry and Dynamic Planet at the regional level. Kendal plans on majoring in Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor this fall.

Boyce with a GPA of 4.219. Tatum is the daughter of Brent and Bradi Boyce of Caseville. Grace F. Trost with a GPA of 4.173. Grace is the daughter of Michael and Laura Trost of Pigeon. Hunter H. Krohn with a GPA of 4.170. Hunter is the son of Heath and Melanie Krohn of Bad Axe. Devonee R. Gnagey with a GPA of 4.160. Devonee is the daughter of Brant and Carla Gnagey of Bay Port. Alexa L. Smithers with a GPA of 4.131. Alexa is the daughter of Darren and Amy Smithers of Bad Axe.
