Laker High School is pleased to announce the Class of 2024 valedictorian, salutatorian, and top honor students.
Layton H. Krohn has earned Valedictorian honors with a GPA of 4.28. Heidi M. Keim has earned Salutatorian honors with a GPA of 4.27.
Valedictorian Layton Krohn is the son of Heath and Melanie Krohn of Bad Axe. Layton is a member of the National Honor Society and has maintained “All-A” Honor Roll Status for all four years of high school. Layton is a dual-enrolled student at Mid-Michigan Community College through the Huron Area Technological Center. Layton has maintained a spot on the scholars’ list throughout the program. Layton played three years of varsity basketball, serving as team captain this year and receiving All-GTW First-Team honors and the Scholar-Athlete Award. Outside of school, Layton has also played travel basketball for the past seven years and is an active member of Elkton Missionary Church. Layton plans to attend Calvin University in the fall to study Finance.
Salutatorian Heidi Keim is the daughter of Brian and Lisa Keim of Pigeon. She has maintained “All-A” Honor Roll Status for all four years of high school. Heidi has been a member of the National Honor Society for three consecutive years. She also served as the president of the 2021-2023 student council and then served as president of the executive student council during the 2023-2024 school year. In doing so, Heidi was
elected as the student representative of the Board of Education of Laker Schools Heidi is currently enrolled in the Mid-Michigan College Dual Enrollment program at the Huron Area Technical Center, where she has excelled in her courses as well as attended showcases at the Mount Pleasant campus to exhibit her work. Heidi has been a member of the Youth Advisory Committee as well as the student-based Laker Rotary Interact group for the past two years. Heidi has been involved in the FFA as a member for the past five years, where she was a state finalist in parliamentary procedure in 2021 and a state finalist again in 2023 for Agricultural Issues. She also competed in the Agricultural Communications skills competition, winning first in the state and moving on to receive third at the National level in the fall of 2022. Heidi received her Discovery, Star Greenhand, and Outstanding Junior degrees and will soon receive her State FFA degree. Heidi has been a member of the Girls Varsity Soccer team since her freshman year, where she earned her Varsity letter. She was also granted the All-Conference Scholar-Athlete award in both 2021 and 2022, and her team as a whole was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches Association with the Team All-Academic Award in 2022. Outside of school, Heidi has been an active member and volunteer at Frankenmuth Bible Church for the past four years along with holding a job at Shakers Ice Cream Parlor during the summers of 2021-2023. Heidi plans to major in Dental Hygiene at Ferris State University this fall to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science degree.

Kadie L. Jarson with a GPA of 4.132. Kadie is the daughter of Stacy and Michelle Jarson of Caseville.
Madilyn A. Jimpkoski with a GPA of 4.092.
Emma E. Smith with a GPA of 4.043. Emma is the daughter of James and Brenda Smith of Pigeon.
Faith N. Hooper with a GPA of 4.03. Faith is the daughter of Ryan and Carrie Hooper of Bay Port.
Elizabeth E. McArdle with a GPA of 4.00. Elizabeth is the daughter of Leo and Amy McArdle of Pigeon.
Grace G. McArdle with a GPA of 4.00 Grace is the daughter of Leo and Amy McArdle.
