Lakers has a new SAIL Academy Director – Jenny Parker! The school board approved her for the position at the June board meeting. Welcome back to Lakers, Jenny! Here are some quick facts about our new SAIL Academy Director:
-She’s a 1994 Laker graduate
-She attended Michigan State University and graduated with a BS in Agriscience and Natural Resources. She obtained her teaching degree from SVSU with an emphasis in Science. She has her Masters Degree from CMU in Educational Technology.
-She worked for Mayville Community Schools as a teacher and more recently as their Student Services Coordinator (Guidance Counselor) for the past 6 years.
-She said what interested her in the SAIL Academy Director position is her passion for working with students and helping them to achieve their goals. “I believe at SAIL, I will be able to work closer with students to create individual plans to meet their goals and needs in and outside of the classroom,” she said.
-She looks forward to being part of the Laker Community and using her skills to help students in need. “I can not wait to share in the big and small successes of my students,” she said.
-At SAIL, she wants to learn as much as she can about her students and be able to offer opportunities for them to learn. She added, “I want to be able to offer career skills and opportunities for students that will help them beyond high school.”
-Her family includes husband Jim Parker, son, James Parker and soon-to-be daughter-in-law Taylor McGathy (getting married on June 28th). Also, her parents are Don and Donna Wheeler!
We are so excited to have Jenny on our Laker team! We know she’ll do a phenomenal job as our SAIL Academy Director.
