The two Laker High School bridge design teams ranked well during the Michigan Bridge Challenge recently. Both teams designed and built replicas of cable-stay bridges and they were tested for strength and durability. The bridges had to be light in weight, but still sturdy.
The team “Bad Bridges” (Keegan Binder, Hunter Keim, and Aaron Baranski) ranked 6th out of 64 teams.
The team “Bridge Babes” (Emma Irion, Elly Hyzer, and Chloe Guest) ranked 13th out of 64 teams.
“Both teams had excellent presentations and bridge tests,” said coach Deb Hasselschwert. “The scores were very close – only 3.4 points separated the 13th place from the 6th place.”
Way to go, Laker bridge builders!
