Welcome to SAIL Academy

At SAIL, it is our honor to work with your student, helping them with their education based on their personal and individual needs, while keeping the focus on them, and their future. SAIL provides a unique opportunity to receive a fully accredited diploma through the Laker School District while focusing on work readiness, life skills, and social-emotional growth.

What Sets SAIL Apart

What SAIL offers is flexibility. Flexibility to build an education based on a student’s future plans, strengths, and interests.

online tutorial Learning

Online Learning

SAIL Academy is a progressive look at the high school experience. Using an online school platform allows for flexibility and time to participate in a variety of programs from work placements to career exploration. SAIL puts the students in control of their education and life beyond the classroom.

In-Person Learning

Students at SAIL are encouraged to work in-person in a variety of ways.  Not only do they have access to our SAIL building every single day for staff support and peer interaction, but they have the option to attend traditional high school for a variety of elective classes such as mechatronics, band or art – among others.  The Huron Tech Center is just a town away and offers a variety of classes to prepare students for their future in the workforce.  This is also an option for SAIL students to attend!

work based learning

Work-based learning

Work-based learning isn’t a new concept but it is a collaboration with our community businesses.  This opportunity takes our students away from their computers, and into the workplace, to earn credit hours and a paycheck each week.  This hands-on, real-world experience gives students the chance to enter into the working world and truly see what it means to be part of our community. This allows the student to earn credit toward their diploma and the opportunity to have an established job after graduation.

About the SAIL Academy

SAIL is located in downtown Pigeon, sharing a building with Emma’s Coffee House. Our building serves as an optional landing space for our students with access to WIFI, staff support, friends, and of course, great coffee!

We will work with your students who may be looking for an alternative learning style, in need of credit recovery or those who might be looking for a lighter load within their schedule for work placements.

Every application at SAIL begins a conversation about life skills, goals, and our students’ strengths.  At our initial intake interview, we will create an educational roadmap to fit each students’ goal and abilities.  This could include any of the following:

  • Non-CTE Work-Based Learning

  • In-Person electives at Lakers High School

  • In-person classes at our local Tech Center

  • Participating in extra curricular activities through Laker Schools

  • Emotional & Mental Wellness

Creating the Future

Our program welcomes students of all learning abilities, and encourages each to meet their full potential.  We are willing to work outside the box and to get creative to see these students succeed. Philosophy

Our Students Come First

Our philosophy at SAIL is simple – students come first.  We believe each and every student has the power and strength within themselves to be successful, no matter their barriers.  We work with our students, giving them a voice and a say in their education.

We encourage creativity and second chances.  We allow for set-backs and mistakes.  We advocate for our students and their best chance for success.

Staff

Helping Students Every Step of the Way

SAIL has a small, but mighty, staff.  We are a cohesive support team for our students, working with them and for them.
